>>2810212I disagree. There's so much in the manga/anime that shows how much he's fallen in love with Kagome, but he felt bound to his responsibility to Kikiyou. He had a pretty big laundry list of shit he was responsible for/played apart in, but in the end he gets to come to terms, if not help fix it, largely thanks to his relationship with Kagome. In the end, even after he confesses how much love and fate he feels with Kagome, he still tries to do right by her.
I think it was all super romantic, but I agree that the constant kikiyou interruptions were a drag, although it was nice to see a realistic exploration of Kagome handling jealousy and acceptance. Not all relationships start off easily or without other people's feelings being involved, and imo, it made the happiness they got to have at the end of series a lot more gratifying than most canon relationships.
