No, it's just that the host was a massive dick and it's a shame because I was one of the first five members, and I kind of took pride in that until it became the shitshow that it is.

Not to scare you away from it, I met some really cool people while I was there, but personally I'm just glad to have met them, kept in contact with them and left the server itself. It's fun for a while, but only because of novelty.

So I went on my highschool finalist trip to NYC and I found this little gem on an anime store shelf and I couldn't resist.

It's my first Yui figure, and I actually like it quite a bit (a lot of figures I see get the face wrong, but this one's got a good job done).

I hope this reminds me to draw more Yuis soon, I've been busy trying out other projects lately, so I hope she won't scold me for it.

Personally, I'd go as far as to say K-On as a whole didn't do Yui enough justice.
Even though I love her to bits, I had to improvise on a bunch of things the show never went in-depth on.

That was a cute scene! But I agree, it's wonderful how we can follow Yui through high school and see how she grows, but it leaves a desire to fill in all those blanks of before and after. The problem I have with K-On is that (as with all moe shows) it was unrealistically optimistic towards every situation.
In my opinion, I'd have loved to see an alternate scenario where Yui is simply unable to buy Giita and would have to settle for a cheaper guitar, which would give her motivation to really work for Giita - but since she'd already grown with her new guitar, she wouldn't even want to trade for it anymore.
Alas, it was a good show for what it had to work with, especially since the source material is garbage. Just thought they missed a few opportunities, not just for Yui, but for all the characters.

I get your meaning now, I'm not sure if I'd prefer 100%optimistic moe version of k-on or more realistic one.
But when I was reading your response I reminded myself why I like this anime so much, its showing us that both working hard on yourself and having fun with friends are really important things.

Of course, I still think K-On is more than just a CGDCT show, and like I said, I applaud the team behind it for what they managed to pull off. While it's true adding more challenges would add more excitement and drama, in a way I'm happy they kept it simple and happy. It's just what I was looking for, and seeing Yui and the girls happy and successful is incredibly heartwarming, and manages to be quite powerful without complicating things.

It's heartwarming when it's well deserved.
Because of the way the show is structured, it either left me satisfied or empty at the end of every episode. I suppose it's something to expect from an episodical series, but I can't help but scratch my head over it anyway.

To each their own, I suppose. If all you want to see is cute girls being happy that's totally fine - I'd even argue that I'm too stubborn and I just can't get into the essence of the show.

I've never loved anyone as much as I love Yui, but I don't think her show will ever get to my top 10.

Yeah I can understand what you're getting at. I think a big part is what you look for and expect from a show too. It took me a few episodes to really get into the vibe of the show, and I think by them I was spell-bound anyway. As an aside, I think the easy going nature of the show also helped form a comfortable atmosphere where it's like you can enjoy their company, if that makes sense. I liked that a lot.
But regardless, I'm happy for the love you feel for Yui! She's a great girl!

Yesterday I just literaly saw Yui-chan on the street, there was a girl around 16 years old with short blue skirt (exactly the same as they were wearing in k-on), black tights and jacket which was very similar to jackets from k-on except that this one was green and had a hood, she was also carrying black guitar case on her back. Unfortunetely I could not see her hair cause of hood.

On the pixiv page it's listed as original, and there's no Yui or K-On! tag. I think the character is an OC, and that's why the only tag wherever you found it was Yui (I.e. the figure in the background). And aside from her bangs somewhat resembling Yui's, nothing else about the character reminds me of Yui, eg no hair clips, different clothing, lighter eyes etc.

I'm still convinced it's Yui. First of all, "no hair clips" and "different clothing" are both bad examples since Yui has had both of those conditions several times throughout the show. Her bangs don't "somewhat resemble Yui's" either, they are almost exactly the same.
Notice how the hair is parted and rolls around her cheeks just like Yui's, as well as the bits of messy hair sticking out.

As for the eye color, I'm 99% sure that's also just the artist's decision. Take a look at the Yui figure in the back, which has the same eye shape and color.

I mention the clothing and hair clips because usually when artists try to make alternative versions of Yui they at least retain some iconic characteristics of her so she's recognizable. Even with the bangs, it doesn't look like her at all for me, especially with the long hair, as I've seen many other girls with similar hair. You can interpret it as you wish, but no matter how much I look at it, I don't see Yui in her. Perhaps she is inspired by Yui, sure. And in addition to everything else, the fact its tagged as OC by the original artist, is a pretty strong argument for me.

I looked into it, and I'm convinced that the "original" tag you mention is simply referring to the fact that it is an original work by that artist.
I translated the chinese text in the title and the description, and I got "one year later" and "postcard on the back". Now, I have no clue what the latter is supposed to mean, but "one year later", given the rest of the setting, is a pretty good indicator towards it being Yui.

What is your definition of original work if you dont mean OC? I've never seen a Yui with the "original" tag, but I have seen OCs with the original tag. And I did translate the tag and description too when I first saw it, and concluded it probably meant something else. If you click to see other works with the same tag, many of them seem quite young. Maybe the tag has something to do with the artist's own progression or something. Also, if it's Yui it's strange there's no Yui or kon tag.

I just meant that it is an original work by said artist, even if it based off of something else. I used danbooru (admitedly being a reposting site, but I believe it's appropriate to notice tags anyway), and the "original" tag there tends to refer to works that are original by the artists (not official art etc), and not original characters.
For the record, both k-on and hirasawa_yui were tagged, and so was the artist, just to make sure.

As for the translation, I went for the most direct route, yes, but your interpretation seems like a bit of a stretch, especially, like I said, given the setting - with a Yui figure and Giita.

Every work on pixiv is original by your definition, since it's not a reposting site. But other works of Yui aren't tagged as original. It seems obvious it refers to OC on pixiv.
And as I said, I think it's tagged that way on danbooru because of the fig in the background. I admit my interpretation of the tag is a stretch, but if you look on the other works with that tag, I don't see a trend of characters being drawn as older, so it doesn't add up with your interpretation.

Danbooru appears to be rather inconsistent with "original" tags, as they appear both in and out of OCs, which led me to believe that they may be referring to original works of art (not official art, etc.).
Still, assuming "original" is OC, I'd say there's more than enough of a physical difference to list it as such. The hirasawa_yui and k-on tags could just be referring to the figure and guitar, but the text and setting just seem like too much of a coincidence to me.
