I don't think it has anything to do with the age of the series, either. There are plenty of old series' that get posted here all of the time, but again - there isn't a maliciousness between "opposing" faves.
Sailor Moon for example. You can post Sailor Mercury in a thread without Sailor Mars fans going apeshit.
I really don't know what the hell it is that causes it.
