>>2929977The first two movies, Begginnings and Eternal, are recaps with redone animation and voice acting. The first movie had many scenes removed to fit a 2 hour time span, which is infuriating because some of the scenes were important for characterization. The second movie had some scenes added, but they don't add very much. Skip them if you don't care.
Rebellion is certainly a step down from the series. It is told from the perspective of Homura rather than Madoka, which may deter from your enjoyment since you say you don't care about her. The first run through can be very confusing, as there is a lot to take in. It's pumped full of symbolism that is shoved in your face. There's also the new girl Nagisa, who is the witch who killed Mami in the anime. She's one-dimensional and her inclusion is quite fanservicy. Her role in the movie could have easily been filled by Sayaka. The ending is highly controversial among fans, and there is still no consensus on how to feel about it.
The characterization of the girls are fine, you won't need to worry.
