>>3179247>>3179319>Defacing something vs defacing the image of something is a distinction without a difference. This isn't an argument, it's a contextless statement that makes no sense.
>By your logic Rei Q shouldn't offend you because it isn't Rei herself but an avatar, Again you display your blatant ignorance and desperation. Anyone who isn't downright dumb would realize the difference, and since you're not dumb just criminally amoral and dishonest, you try to force a comparison where there is none.
To make it clear for all to see, the difference is vast and can be elaborated on for a long time, but I'll make an effort to distill it down to two points:
- Rei's "avatars" in NGE are owned by Rei and serve as an extension of her she is fully in control of.
- Rei's "avatars" are in fact, simply Rei.
- Rei's "avatars", unlike Rei Q, do not cut out a major portion of Rei's character development, nor are they portrayed as weak, pathetic or worse
- Rei Q, unlike any "avatar" in NGE, is placed as a named character with dialogue and a role in the story as an individual
I could go on but I'm wasting my time explaining to you something you already know.
Putting it short, your argument that EoE is "anti-Rei" will always be nonsense because of how high EoE lifts Rei as a character, and also because of having development in a movie where the character with the second-most screentime gets unceremoniously shot and forgotten for three fourths of the movie. Rei's emotional, physical, psychological and literary integrity is completely intact, and in fact, strengthened by EoE.
You will simply just have to stop pretending that you don't understand that overcoming injustice, horror, physical and psychological pain is a compliment, not an insult. It's the basis of all popular "strong" and respected fictional characters out there. They suffer but come out stronger. Rei is mutilated, oppressed and brainwashed yet still comes out as something close to a God in NGE.
