AFAIK the first season never got full subs of the 4:3 TBS version. Most subbers used the 16:9 satellite version. This was also when it was common to wait months for subs for anything that wasn't a popular shounen show, and SpoonSubs didn't finish the first season until late 2007 (it may have even been early 2008), by then there was no reason to use the 4:3 TBS raws.
