Recently finished the first volume of the LN adaption of the series, which has Saori as the POV. It was ok I guess. Very few new scenes, the battles (it got to just after Saunders) were pretty short and undetailed. It was slightly interesting to get the perspective of how little happens in a match for any given tank, in this case Ankou team, but it doesn't make for all that good reading. Especially due to how it was written. The prose was very simplistic, if you'd told me it was aimed at middle schoolers I'd believe you. X says blabla, Y says blabla, A happens, B happens, X says blehbleh. I'll readily admit I haven't read many long form japanese texts, but even in my limited experience there have been works with far more varied and interesting rythm. This LN reminded me more of my days on
fanfiction.net than anything else. Well, well. I'll probably have a go at the second volume as well. The first one made for a pretty decent break during "downtime". Can't really recommend it though.
