It's important, in my opinion, because it's the first time we get to see her in a mindset that, while not exactly "happy" per-se, shows her being content.
I maintain that Annie has a complex about her height and stature that was an important part of her character until Isayama dropped the ball. It was really interesting to me, and it made her so much more real.
