>>3957871>Too much of it is people come on just to start fights as opposed to being on a website where you can harshly criticize someone without lasting consequences. Could not have put it better myself anon. As the internet grows more intertwined with everyday life I feel that this holds truer and truer. It's like the shopping cart litmus test post. When you have anonymity, there's no reason to be civilized. Just like you don't have to put your shopping cart away yourself. There's no consequences to not doing either. But when you have a public profile, when a username is attached to you, it forces you to act a certain way because of repercussions. Which is why I browse image boards so much more than places like twitter or Reddit. As you used to get people's raw opinion that wasn't shrouded by 18 layers of irony. No matter how retarded that opinion is.
Point is, just like the shopping carts, having anonymity and freedom from any potential consequences and STILL choosing to be civil is why I still wade through the ever increasing amount of shit posts from raiders and newfags.
