Not to get sidetracked with a comparison, but I feel like there's a bit of a "Beauty and the Beast" effect with her, where a lot of people prefer her cursed form because that's the one you get attached to over the course of the game and that's the one you see grow and change.
But unlike the Beast, I think the design of her true form is also quite good whereas I think the Disney people mentioned they didn't put much effort into his human form because they knew people would like his beast form more. Fair point I guess, but I think it's also a fair point that people have brought up that they could have done more than just turn him into cartoon Fabio and call it a day.
I think both forms encapsulate her character well design-wise for the respective points they appear in.
