First off, they made an anime, which is incredibly bad for many reasons... it essentially tries to combine all of Rewrite's routes into one, which just turns it into a total clusterfuck, practically nobody who hadn't read the VN understood it... the artstyle is pretty bad too, similar vibes to going from DxD season 3 to season 4
But the biggest problem for me is how they handled Kagari, obviously
In the VN, as you know, Kagari is first displayed as an antagonist for what, 50 hours? Then in Moon route, you essentially learn that she is human after all, she actually isn't a deadly killing machine, she actually cares a lot about humanity
My specific perspective of it is that since Kagari sees herself being treated like shit, seen as antagonist, constantly seen as plot device, constantly fought over, that hurts her a lot and over time she has grown depressed, burnt out and reclusive.
Due to that, she simply can't imagine a branch of life anymore where people love her, and she can be helped, people can work together with her to find a good future, instead of her just fighting alone.
When Kotarou shows her love again, and that people care about her, and slowly but surely breaks her out of her shell even just a tiny bit, she finds a new branch in which Kotarou helps her not for his own gain, but out of love.
It's a very touching story, and it's why I fell in love with Kagari.
...but instead, the anime just goes Fuck all that and turns Kagari into a generic moeshit character, makes her look far more like a loli, constantly lewd her (even farting on her), flandrize her character into "xd coffee loli", then in ep 7 literally drop a rock on her head and say "ok she has brain damage now and acts like a petulant child"...
not only does this destroy the concept of moon, It's super disrespectful to her character, to the point of making me hate anyone who even dares to defend it in any way, seeing that itself as a personal attack.
