Wind scored 75 victories in the Continuation War, making him the second-highest-scoring Finnish ace. He flew multiple airframes, but scored most of his victories in the Bf 109.
In one dogfight in Jun 1944, Wind faced off one-on-one with Soviet super-ace Chirkov, a recipient of the Hero of the Soviet Union award.
Hans Wind survived the war, married, had five children, and studied business. Wind died in 1995.
