Doesn't have to be anything crazy, just go for a 30m walk most days and cut back a bit on soda and high fat & sodium foods (even excessive carbs if you want). Don't have to cut anything out cold turkey, just gotta enjoy the stuff that's bad for you in moderation.
Evangelion kind of threw me into a funk for a bit, then I realized that I want to be better than I am, so I started working out and doing more cardio. Even printed out 'Do It For Her' picture to look at for motivation when I feel disheartened.
We all deserve to be happy, we just have to work a little bit for it. If that motivation comes from an anime girl, so be it, it just has to work.
