>>4261379I think you're being a little too cynical towards Sailor Moon, yeah. The show is 31 years old and is the pioneer magical girl show, so any and all shows following it had the opportunity to do things differently and/or better. Especially when considering what the anime was at the time, I think it's amazing show, and has held up pretty well. The only thing I'd say I actively dislike about the show is how formulaic it is, but that just means I watch it slowly, coming back for an episode or two once a week or so when I feel like it. I'm genuinely enjoying the overarching plot, and like you said, stuff like Nephrite X Naru was actually really cool
>CCS keeps you entertained every single time because of Tomoyo's unique outfits for every. single. episode.Not just the outfits (which do play an enormous role for cute girl enjoyers, the viewer and Tomoyo alike), Sakura is obviously also using the cards to fight, rather than just doing "Moon Tiara Action!" for the millionth time. Sakura struggles and strategizes, while the Sailor soldiers just spam the same attack every episode. I think both shows action scenes are awesome, but in CCS they have infinitely more depth and detail. With Sailor Moon's, you sort of have to accept and appreciate the simplicity - it's almost like a template for other shows to build on.
