>>4292599/c/ is an image sharing board.
/a/ is an anime discussion board.
Anons don't go to /a/ to save images the same way anons don't use /c/ for anime discussion. Anons come and go - 2013 /c/ was just as slow as it is now, 2017ish /c/ was just as fast as /u/ and /vst/ are today. Its just natural. Even then, the last board I want to use for cute anime girls is /a/, its normally just a bunch of kids posting borderline porn and being autistic about anime (I hate myself but not that much).
>use other boards nowFor sharing images? Image dump threads get moved from /a/ to /c/ when it happens. You'd be surprised with the amount of overlap with other boards - I've found people from /mlp/, /tg/, /his/, others, and obviously other weeb boards.
>Nobody comes and visits because most users just make identical threads on /a/ The same can be said about every other weeb board as /a/ covers a lot of themes and subjects within anime. Each board has its own culture and userbase, the change in user activity can't be boiled down to "/a/ does it better" when that is completely subjective. I've seen anons come and go over the years, people just move on is all (for many different reasons).
>tldrThere are many reasons why traffic changes over the years, there is no one reason.
