>>4311159It just became obvious to me right away that all of the changes were affecting Asuka negatively. Whether it was them skipping over her major scenes from the show, to erasing her connections with other characters (she is no longer associated with Kaji or Hikari), to writing her out of the script entirely at the earliest convenience. And even when she does have some positive development, she immediately has her life ruined, invalidating and taking back all the character growth she had prior. It seemed any time they came to a decision point in the story Asuka was always the one to lose out. She never got a chance to really shine. Whenever the movies do choose to focus on her, it’s usually a scene where she’s getting screwed over in some way. I just had to realize early on that these movies weren’t for me. They were made for somebody else to enjoy.
