>>2853697In anything other than a fully comedic work, a male MC who acts like a perv in pretty much any way will be completely unsympathetic to a large portion of the audience (and even in a comedy it's a constant careful balancing act to maintain just enough pervyness to fuel the humor without distracting from it). So in something like Time Stop Brave the MC is allowed to be a big perv, but only as long as it keeps being funny, and he still isn't allowed to go much farther than the running gag of groping someone every single chapter and occasionally stripping a villainess or two.
When you want a guy character to "just enjoy the moment", it's probably going to be a secondary characters, who's allowed a little more pervyness because making secondary characters slightly unsympathetic can make the MC more sympathetic by comparison. So those two guys in the original Evangelion that spend a few minutes watching Rei Ayanami in a swimsuit (way way back in my day) can get away with it because the audience isn't expected to identify with them, and because it makes Shinji look better even though he's still acting like Shinji.
Or, for that matter, pic related classic scene, in which the guy enjoys the show and immediately gets out of the way for the main characters to have their character development.
