When he got back into it he started making Triage X instead (see above) and didn't want to get back into the whole post apocalyptic genre after a natural disaster happened in his home country. It hit too close to home and it made him uncomfortable and uncertain that readers would appreciate it. There are rumors of him giving the series a proper send off with an 8th volume but I personally doubt it.
