Learn construction so you can draw complex characters made of various 3D shapes in different poses and angles without getting lost
Learn anatomy so you know what sort of shapes a person is made of
And most important: Draw a lot, draw often, and always challenge yourself
Look at art of artists you like and try to draw like it. Compare the art you made to their art and see what you could improve
