What's the closest thing to a twin engine Cessna Caravan? There are plenty of bigger options, and lots of smaller ones not made for cargo, but I can't think of any in between.

if there are any commercial/airline pilots in this thread right now, what would you say the worst part of getting your career established was? working a wageslave job to save up? taking out a loan? a certain rating or license, or subject material? the time building to 1500 (if you aren't a boomer)? choosing a regional, commuting for a regional if you had to, etc.? i think the list could go on.

LHR-SEA has 40% more premium capacity than LHR-YVR taken the year round, but YVR has 13% more Y seats in summer and 35% more Y seats in winter. SEA is loads more profitable for BA than YVR, even with the A380. And BA only switched YVR to the A380 because Air Canada announced a second daily YVR-LHR, and BA had to scale back their summer ops from 12x weekly.

With that sole exception aside, neither Vancouver nor Seattle are big enough economies to warrant enough demand for an A380. It's designed for huge markets like SFO, LAX, JFK, IAD.

Fuck, this is probably gonna be me in a year or so. Hopefully I can find a gig close-ish to home so I can just stay at my dad's house and at least not have to pay rent. I'll have to move out of state otherwise because there's zero fucking chance I could have a roof over my head at all here in CA on what a CFI makes.

Even still, you won’t have time to be healthy. When you have 4 2 hour student blocks in a row with no break, you don’t have time to eat. All summer I would just be baking in the sun all day long, sweating my ass off. I wouldn’t have the chance to eat from 8am-6pm

Both of these are significantly larger airplanes with more seats and larger volume. In terms of cost per hour and mission profile the bn-2 islander is much closer. The beech 18 also fills in nicely but they’re so old, rare, and difficult to fly that they exist in very niche places. The quest Kodiak is also a direct competitor and probably the best comparison of the bunch but it too is a single engine turboprop.

As someone who flies the caravan I don't think there is anything similar nowadays which is probably why the van is so successful. With a payload over a tonne and taking about a day to go through maintenance it's pretty easy to make money off them. The king air has similar seating numbers and pt6's but then it's pressurised.

Reminds me a little of the 210/be58/310.
Same seats and same engines but people take the twins for more safety and speed. Mind you the twins in this example has the inferior payload. Might be the same for the king air and 208 too.

Forgot to mention I volunteer frequently and go to job fairs. I was told by a DL recruiter that “straight white males are not in demand right now.” AA says they’re only hiring mil guys and flow. UA is my top choice but they just say “yeah keep doing what you’re doing man”.

Guess it’s time to go to an LCC and haul around poorfags for more money than all of their combined incomes.

It doesn’t matter because it will be gone by the time you hit ATP mins. Good luck bud, keep working at it. Don’t become a skywest fag and get comfy at the regionals for 18 years. Get in and get out as soon as you can.

Do you think 1000 tpic is really that important? The flying is already drawing down here. I went from lineholder to reserve as the planes are going back. Management is telling us “hang on guys good news coming!” but the majority of us believe they’re just stringing us along to fulfill the contract. Hire til you fire.

Virginia is really nice desu. High QOL. It’s perfect for airline pilots too because it’s very commutable. There are 3 large airports in the northern Virginia area with hourly flights to JFK, BOS, CLT, LGA, EWR, ORD, MCO.

I know many pilots who live and commute from here

There have been quite a few turbine lancairs completed. They're 2 seat rocket ships but they have a pretty critical wing and a very limited payload/cg range so it's definitely not for everyone.
