>>1928890my sister and her husband got their first house in a newer development like that and now they have 2 kids and i can't help but think how boring it must be for them. there's like 2 mega-blocks of just houses and the only way in and out just leads to some shitty stroad with no sidewalk. these poor kids and their friends don't ride their bikes to the store to get candy or go to the park or whatever. if they want to do that stuff, it's too far away and too dangerous to get there as a 10 year old, so they gotta be driven by their parents.
I grew up in suburbs, but they were old suburbs with mostly gridded streets and with shops and parks close by. these newer suburban sprawl developments are just closed-off neighborhoods with 1 or 2 ways to get in and out, built off of busy roads that lead to the fucking super walmart. it's all fucking soulless.
