thinner pedals sometimes have IGUS bushings instead of ball bearings or Cartridge bearings
maybe bearing type is not a big deal but if the pedal does not use a type of bearing or axle that has spare parts and rebuild kits available the pedal will have a shorter life overall
flip side is that maybe its cheaper and less hassle to buy a new pedal than to rebuild an old one
