Apparently the rediculously wide Q factor allows better control but it isnt even that much imho, crank lenght is a bigger factor - you want it shorter. Q factor in handling is such a hair split in control, one of the reason its bigger in mtb is just clearance, only secondary is stability.
The early all mountain (proto-enduro) 2000s drivetrains already had a wide Q, but even then knees suffered - I only realized how bad it was until I tried an older mtb and a road bike which had a low Q.
now with trenduro you have to pedal as well and they are making it basically a downhill bike that is impossible to pedal uphill properly. Is it one of those race to the botton sitations to be the "best in the market"?
