I have a lot of other plans for the CTA on a much broader scale, such as this one involving the purple line running all-day (same hours as brown line, at least) to and from the Loop, with a massive capital project included.
Here's the crayon. Essentially it's a cut-and-cover subway via Halsted and Clinton which links Brown and Orange to through-run from Kimball to Midway. Tons of benefits from a service like this:
>one-seat ride from the north side to midway
>direct access from both CUS, Olgilvie LaSalle, and (tangentially) Millenium Stations to offices or other destiantions OUTSIDE the Loop
>turnaround option for the Forest Park and O'Hare branches of the Blue Line (e.g. each would run to the Loop, then turn around at this new underground loop and run back to their termini (O'Hare and Forest Park), without through-running (service could still through-run, but instead of having the weird turnaround at UIC, they'd just transit this new underground Loop)
>Serves all of the new development along the North Branch of the Chicago River (Ballys, Halsted Pointe, Lincoln Yards, etc)
Obviously that's a much bigger project than just running a few more trains out of Howard but that's the Silver Bullet for to save the CTA. It would probably have a similar cost to the forthcoming RLE and provide 1000000x more value, but whatever. Dorval carter is a fucking idiot
