>>1841400Difference in power loss between brands is microscopic unless you're willing to pay like $50 for lube. Just decide on 'wet' vs 'dry' and get whatever seems cheap or popular.
>>184145019 give or take for 1.5-2 hours on a route with basically no stops on a road bike (non-aero). TdF types are more like 25+mph for long distances, but they're drafting the entire way too.
>>1841489Works out to about 2k miles over 8 months so it's not *that* bad (but still a little bad). Cleaning frequently makes it last longer but then you're spending more on lube so it's a balance (if all you're worried about is money).
>I ordered shimano HG-51 8 11-32T. Will it last longer?Dunno but it's more expensive and 51 is more than 31 so probably? Preventing cassette wear is more about changing the chain on time though. SRAM chains are pretty cheap if you're using some offbrand thing now, there are 3 different 8 speed ones that have different coatings on them for durability, but the best one (pc-870) is only a few bucks more than the cheap one (pc-830) so get that one.
>>1841495Sitting in the same gears forever wears those gears out fastest. If you're shifting in front just as much as in back then you could almost certainly be spreading the load out on the cassette a lot better than you are.
