you can also make a (weak) pin spanner with a metal coat hanger, and also possibly filing the ends down a little.
It does just unscrew counter clockwise
and you may now have to drill new holes for it if the pin spanner cams out of the parts you have mangled.
Real question is why you want to remove it. You understand what it does right? There's no need to remove it.
