>>1839631If it's just for around-town, a normal chainring is fine. If you're going to rough it up, you want a narrow-wide chainring for chain retention. Also, if your middle chainring is badly worn out, you want a new chainring anyway, and should look for a narrow-wide.
If your middle chainring is good and you use it, you want shorter chainring bolts, so you can remove the outer one. You also have to get a crank puller to remove the inner chainring, because it won't come off without removing the crank.
You also need a chain tool to break/shorten the chain (you should get a new chain). You also need a cassette tool and a chain whip to remove the cassette.
You should also consider servicing the front and rear hubs while you do this which requires 13 &15mm cone spanners and 15&17mm regular spanners.
