I am not sure how wide would be too wide, of course something more narrow than the handlebars. This would be good if you had say, like the equipment for something like building a roll cage which unfortunately I do not. It would end up being far longer than a cargo bike and maybe unwieldy, also incredibly fucking heavy if you are just using something like cheap 1" steel tubing. But Stock price from Midwest Steel is like $90 for 252" and that would be more than enough, I would imagine.
