I'm all for electronic shifting, it just needs to be made the simple commodity that it actually is instead of the current expensive goobers. Even some DIYers are already making adapt kits for mechanical derailleurs, I fail to see why these wouldn't be as good as a dura-ace mechanical, while using a tourney body strapped to a chink stepper motor and a Xbee.
