>>1738446Like 10 years ago when hydraulic discs were exotic future tech especially on road bikes, Tektro came up with a kludge that put a hydraulic cylinder on a cable-actuated brake system. They work slightly better than cable discs when brand new assuming they're set up according to their proprietary instructions that are like the opposite of every other kind of brake (so almost no bike shop does it right), and they're incredibly fussy and require not just bleeding but also recabling, so your maintenance requirements are absurd and if you aren't anal about it they either drag like crazy or they barely stop you
