A picture of a Kitson-Meyer locomotive from the Trans-andean Railway between Chile and Argentina. These were built after the railway desired more powerful locomotives that could operate on the sharply curved rack sections.
After concerns about power on the rack inlines another cog axle was fitted to the front unit and extra cylinders (upper pair near smokebox).
These were removed later as they used too much steam and it was found that only one cog was needed.
