Longest ride so far today, 26 miles in all. Rode into the city to visit my buddy but did some detours in the neighborhoods of my town first, rather hilly. 15 miles on the way there and I ran out of water rather quick. Walked and talked some ideas for a project, had some ice cream and mountain dew. Then rode back by way of downtown and the nice new lake bridge between the city and suburbia. It would have been perfect to take a picture of but I felt like I was on a roll today performance wise so I didn't want to upset my tempo. Besides, my hands were filthy after having to fix an overshift when I was changing to the big ring. I thought I cleaned my drive train rather well a month ago but this black residue that was on the bike from the old owner quickly appeared again. On the way back I managed over 12 mph with more mild topography but I was pretty pleased how I managed one climb in particular. It was slow, but steadier than any previous effort on that hill. No walk of shame like I was first starting out. 11 miles on the way home, bringing it to 26. Not bad for this absolute fatass clyde.
This is what the bridge is like at night, it's at the bottom of the hill where there's large world class research hospital/medical campus.
