People hate cars because they are collectivists and cars are good for more narcissistic endeavors like doing your own thing and making your own choices.

Some people are scared of neighborhoods like this and call them boring because they are boring people and can't fathom having the freedom to guide their own circumstances. You have a yard, a driveway to park your car, a car you can drive anywhere for anything easily, space for your hobbies/entertainment, it's all on you. Cities throw stuff at you and transportation is out of your hands, making the whole experience more like being back in the womb.

naivety, americans don't know how normal europeans live, etc. the american suburbs are kind of paradisal for what they offer, of course pure rural living is superior for non-cosmopolitan-types, but many people in suburbs like this live within 20 minutes of shopping, restaurants, etc. and then an hour or so from their work
