Just because something is simple doesn't make it easy to do well.
I definitely wasn't good at wrenching until i'd done it a lot and it showed in the outcome of a lot of what I did.
Some things you either do them or you don't do them, and the only variable skill affects is speed (like 'building' a pc), but a lot of things on a bicycle are not like that, cabling, wrapping bartape, adjusting rim brakes, adjusting bearings, truing wheels, painting,

skill and experience affect how well you do those things, not just how quickly. Even just turning bolts is something i've gotten a lot better at, having a feel for torque values and an understanding of how to deal with iffy fasteners.
