Poptarts would be good if you're in touch with your inner child like but they crumble too easy, too fragile. Rice krispees satisfy the same impulse while being more robust and enjoyable actually.
Fruit is good after the fact for sure, I've never had it with me during a ride though. Nectarines, peaches and grapes are great for how juicy they are, super refreshing after a hot ride. Different types of berries are not bad either.
My guilty pleasure is drinking my calories while riding - slushies, smoothies, frozen coffee, etc. Powerade is the most common but feels more utilitarian on the type of rides I bring some for.
