I have a gravel bike and I fuckin shred bro and I don’t expect the stock wheels that came with it (WTB KOM team i27, can’t find anything about em online) to last very long with the riding I do. The hubs are also lower end formula brand, so when the wheels start to show wear I’m going to replace them with a new wheelset, 25mm internal width.
I currently have some weareone carbon 30mm wide rims on my mountain bike (my only carbon wheels) and I’ve been very happy with them overall, the brand build custom wheels with i9 and I could buy a 25mm wide XC wheelset with gravel axle i9 hubs and 28 spoke for $1500.
I’ve also been looking at lightbicycle as a cheaper option, they sell a 25mm wide gravel wheelset with gravel axle i9 hubs and 28 spoke for $900. They can sell it with novatech hubs and 24 spoke for $600. This seems like a pretty nuts deal for a carbon wheelset for my bike if I’m willing to sacrifice hub quality but realistically I’d want a decent hub if I’m getting a “forever” wheelset, so even still the $600 difference between weareone and lightbicycle is tempting. Weareone has a lifetime reliable warranty and lightbicycle has a 3 year spotty warranty
Any thoughts?
