Why is it, that Americans that legitimately states that their happy by not having rails etc., still ignorantly believes the US has good roads - just because they don't have public transportation? Their the richest country in the world, and the people are somehow okay with sub-par roads, even if it's their only mean of transportation.

They're shit maintained, poorly designed and deny innovation. Sure, they got a roundabout somewhere, and a diamond intersection, oh myy. But Stroads things like pic related is both illegal and against regulations on many fronts in my country - because we realized how to get traffic more comfortable and faster. You're not allowed to intersept traffic by lights every ½ mile. You're not allowed to create endless driveways on a road with multiple lanes - if there's enough traffic for two lanes, that traffic should go fast and unhindered.

And they will go:
>"it's not that bad"
- yes it sadly is, fight for better roads?
>"We're a big country"
- sure, but why not have good roads where people live?
>"We have states"
- so does Germany, even more beucratic and free states on many points
> "We don't like taxes"
- you don't need it, you're the richest country on earth, make the politicians budget otherwise

Why is this allowed? Why don't America get the best roads in the world, since their THE car country of the world, and it seems to be their one and only priority?
