>>1657048Are mid 2000's hard tail mountain bikes just normally like 34 pounds by default then, even for small frames? I was under the impression that was because one was a walmart bike (not mine but my problem) and a low end trek. The tubes are really large diameter, I thought older ones by virtue of no suspension and at least visually looking smaller tubing they'd be lighter than 30 at least.
>>1657056Well I wanted something for road and trails and I don't really like drop bars so while I thought about it I wasn't too sure of making a road bike more off road capable made sense from both comfort and economicaly than just making a mbt lighter.
The hybrid has thinner tires and a straight bar but not so thin that it feels unstable. I bought it on impulse while wanting to fall for the 90's gravel bike conversion meme because it certianly doesn't look what I paid for it, aside from the broken components that needed work. I could go either way with it, making it road exclusive if I found another mbt or using it for everything.
I have a 80's road b ike I need to rebuild because I thought maybe putting money into a pit is better than alcohol. I really don't feel that it is much lighter though even with parts off it right now than the hybrid, maybe it's just the mind playing tricks
>>1657055That's still with the original riveted steel chain ring and suspension seat post. I am waiting on crankset parts since the price of the new shifter was half as much as the 1x crankset and I rarely use much outside of the second largest chain ring.
Not weight weenie in the spend $80 to replace all the hardware with titanium to save an ounce sense but just buying decent cheap parts like new bars or a post and by the virtue of not being 20 year old stock steel components it'd cut down on weight.
