>>1797751An old Schwinn Hornet, Electro-forged. The beach cruiser had one gear. These klunkers started out as the original basis for Mountain Bikes, because Schwinn's were so overbuilt/strong, with thick tires. It's why mountain bikes in the '80s and '90s had 559 size tires (beach cruiser rim size.)
Started out probably a Schwinn Jaguar or Deluxe.
Then the owner put a disc brake welded onto on the rear, added a claw derailleur, which means they re-spaced the rear dropouts to accommodate the wider Over Locknut Diameter. Also requires changing the chain to a derailleur type.
Then gave it non-stock, sporty wheels and modern tires. Typically people collect these and try to keep them in showroom condition.
This guy went a totally different direction- yet also kept the basic aesthetics (gave it a nice paint job after welding on the disc brake tabs, for example, that matches the original style Schwinn might've put on it), and even went through the trouble of getting the fender light to look good.
Those things attract rust like you would not believe.
In fact, there's hardly a spec of rust on it anywhere, and for whatever reason, these things attract dents and dings on the paint like mad, too, but no sign of it.
Someone went through a LOT of trouble to get it like this.
And y'know what? It looks neat.
Pretty sure they took the light from a '53.
