>>1839409>if disc brakes are so superior to rim brakesonly hydros are. mechanical discs are worse than good rim brakes, in my experience. because the diameter of the disc brake's braking surface is drastically smaller than for rim brakes, the calipers need to generate more braking power to even get equivalent performance to a rim brake. the braking system needs to provide you with as much force as it can given the size of the lever you're squeezing and amount of travel. mechanical brakes are extremely limited in how much they can increase the force from your hand to braking surface. hydros can provide far more force, and can do so more consistently, especially since they are not affected by cable stretch or friction. another plus is that they don't fatigue your hands if you're doing a lot of braking
hybrid disc brakes try to get some of the advantages of full hydraulic systems but you wind up getting the worst of both worlds, with a little extra problem in the form of not being able to actually service the caliper
that's why I think that you should get full hydro or not bother. unfortunately for the drop bar crowd, the bike industry has made it expensive to go hydro, while for flatbar crew it's cheap
>the hydraulic fluid in the cylinders lose volume over timeseals fail for various reasons, fluid gets out
>Do i need the tools to refill a hydraulic cylinder with no air bubbles with a hybrid disc brakeas I said, they aren't made to be serviced. Once they start failing, you bin and replace with new
>I cannot fathom having hydraulic cabling on my bikeneither can I, because hydraulic cables don't exist. they're hoses. seriously tho, why
