How do you re use a written map? Do you have a clear plastic sleeve? Or do you just throw it away after a voyage?

GIS and Cartography are in the same subfield and for all intents and purposes the two disciplines have merged. Cartography is not simply making a map from scratch. When a GIS specialist uses ArcGIS or whatever to make a map for Whole Foods to show them where the best place for their next store is - guess what, that's cartography.

I've got about a hundred charts in my collection. These are mainly British Admiralty, and also some Norwegian and German ones.

I usually just leave them and change the color of the pencil every now and then so it doesnt get confusing. keeps a record of the previous voyages. when it gets unworkable i get a new one; its probably out of date by then anyway.
