Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
"Tons of driving" for work purposes is probably too much of a risk that a charger won't be available or won't be fast enough, unfortunately.
Keep it a small vehicle, naturally. Hatchbacks are great for interior volume in a smaller footprint (beating out some models of SUV, because most SUVs are absolute brainrotted shit).
