How do we make -e-bikes and e-scooters safer?
Is LiFePO4 safer than typical ICR or INRs? Or what about LTO?
How much can you sacrifice capacity/energy density to safety and reliability? (LiFePO4 for example, can be recharged 6 times more than typical lithium sausage)

I commute on a fixed gear 8 miles in the southern heat. When I get to work I go to the bathroom, wipe down with alcohol and put my work clothes on and I never smell bad.

also yeah lfp is less explodey than other liiion chemistries and lto safer still, trouble is they both come with capacity drawbacks but you can mitigate those by lugging around a bigger battery. a well built pack like one made by em3ev rather than ultimatepackpower or other untrustworthy fuckers should be fine though, plenty of inbuilt protections against overcharge/discharge and shorts and whatnot.

Most e-scooters and e-bikes don't use most volumetric-efficient batteries. They tend to prefer big discharge current (which makes those batteries extra spicy in terms of fires) like idk. LG M26. 2.6 Ah, 3.65V (so not much w-h) but discharge current is 10A (compare that to ordinary laptop 18650 which has discharge current of 5A at this capacity)

the tech being used in this vehicle should be the standard. the packs have vents and flame retardant built in. bring it outside and let it smoke off and replace the pack and continue rolling.

does it? LTO gets way higher C rates than many other lithium based chemistries but you cant make em catch fire even if u try. altho i may be conflating higher discharge current with high C rates, i guess LTO has that lower voltage to account for... or something... so maybe for the same C rate you get uhm fuck im too drunk rn and out of my depth on this sounds like u know more than me tho so i could be talkin shit desu

To some extent within same chemistry. 2C discharge ICRs won't be as exciting as 10C.
But I'm pretty sure they 10C lifepo4 won't be exciting at all.
