i work for cpkc in bc, canada. thinking about switching to cn. they pay more and im definitely not sticking around long enough for the slightly better pension at cpkc to matter

Not op,but how the fuck do i get in as a conductor,been four years and only two interviews,last one ghosted me.

Burger,not looking at Canada.
Any advice from conductors?
Even my local shortline is blackballing me despite never even being in.
Also was cargo in military if that helps at all.

I'm op. idk how it is in america but here in canada all the class 1s are desperate and hiring anybody. I hear it's even worse in the states. Short lines are probably a bit harder to get hired at but any of the big class 1s will hire you if you can pass a drug test and aren't mentally retarded. The standards are absolute rock bottom

Only bad thing is i don't know anyone in,nor family.
Last guy family knew was with SP and he died in 00-06 i think

I got in with BNSF with no references or experience in 2013 after dropping out of uni.
Applied to UP at the same time and didn't get anything from them.
You can only keep trying I guess.

theres probably some sort of red flag on your resume that youre not aware of. being in the military and not having a criminal record, any of those companies would hire you

What kind of red flag i don't fucking know,I've had my shit checked and reviewed by professionals dozens of times and all have said its good just different small details they say to add like extra fluff or something but nothing that needs to be changed.

So i really don't know what gives.
