gripshift was developed for racing time trials.

Gripshift Brand has farely good detents and bearings
Shimano Revoshifts have better leverage, but the housing is farely fragile, and the tiny allen key to secure them to the bars is a pita

This is just a cheap department store bike made to look like an expensive bike. You'd get what yo pay for, really. If you just want it to ride to the store and buy some milk then I'm sure it's fine, but for "serious" use I don't think it would be that nice.

Things are priced accordingly, it's not just a meme. Generally speaking, expensive things are expensive for a reason, and vice versa

Bikes don't decompose so you're fine. If the cogs and chanrings are beat to shit, youll have to replace them or buy chains more often

I got a caad9 in great condition for $500. Great deal

Depends on location but there's a lot of solid used treks on fb marketplace if youre not a shit 3rd worlder

This is not a real Genesis bike. My guess is that it is a knockoff made by Infinity (who make most non-Huffy/Schwinn department store bikes).

In my opinion, if you want a decent new bicycle for under $1000.00, get a Giant Cypress (they usually go for $500-$600 new). Mine (a 7 speed model) has served me quite well through the years.

As other anons, said buy used if you need cheaper, preferably a Giant or Trek/Electra bike.
