It's a dumb idea but between how undeserved the east island is and the need for a relief line for the Green Line I'm wondering if pic related could work, with the red part being a rail right of way that is mostly undeveloped (yes I'm aware there are a few apartments built in it now but that's nothing a bit of eminent domain can't fix) with the lime being the existing cargo rail lines around the port and east island. The part that's owned by CN would actually be the easy part to handle because their corridor was built for 2 lines but only has 1 due to lower volume so building a second would be on the cheaper side and give Exo trackage they own, with the real issue being the track the Port owns but even that can be bypassed by building it through the park build on the autoroute right of way that was never developed that the REM de L'Est was going to use, only leaving the last mile between where the park ends and where the Old Port begins being an issue for logistics.
