>>20356772 years ago i bought a bafang bbs02b 750w, 48V and a 13Ah battery. They totaled at 1000 euros. Nowadays the prices should be lower.
I bought a 40 euros bike (early 2000, dirkbreaks, aluminum, sturdy)
placed on it a 50 dollar fork (the old was busted). and with 1100 euros i have now an ebike.
I use it a lot.
I LIVE IN ITALY. Law says no throttle, speed <25Km/h, "operating" power <500w
conundrums:
You might have to fiddle with rerouting undergoing cables, and mounting points for a downtube battery or a rack mounted battery.
Cabling. They are ugly, i DO NOT CARE. i cared only about not pinching or bending the cables.
chain alignment. I have a 135mm hub, BUT i run a 7 speed cassette with a spacer, and i use the standard chainring. When you buy the motor you will be asked what chainring you want. Usually they are sold with different teeth and OFFSETS. Do some measurements.
You don't need more than 7 speed for commuting, in fact, the more you have the more you will bother constantly changing after every stop. With a 44 tooth chainring and a 11-28 cassette i can go up 20% slopes.
GEAR SHIFTING DETECTION and BRAKE ACTIVATION DETECTION ARE A MUST. Don't skimp on them.
i would suggest to set up your rig for a mor comfortable riding, you ride an ebike differently (for example with proper clothes).
I AM NOT SURE i would go without a fron shock.
