The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office says an elderly woman was injured and taken to a local hospital after a home invasion. She is expected to survive.
“She was harmed but protected herself,” an updated news release from the sheriff’s office said.
Bingham County Chief Deputy Jordyn Nebeker confirmed with
EastIdahoNews.com that the woman shot a man with a handgun.
“The suspect of the home invasion was an adult male and was deceased upon our arrival,” the release said.
This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community, the release said.

BINGHAM COUNTY — Law enforcement responded to the scene of a potential home invasion Wednesday that resulted in a death.
The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Bingham County Blackfoot Joint Detective Division responded to 134 West 600 North in Bingham County at around 12:15 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office news release.
