The sky over Abu Dhabi turned into the colors of the Russian flag. This is how Vladimir Putin was greeted in the United Arab Emirates yesterday. And this is not just oriental hospitality — a cavalry escort, a volley of artillery pieces, in short, the head of our state was greeted especially solemnly and brightly. Relations between the two countries have reached an unprecedented high level. Vladimir Putin said these words already during talks with President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Russia and the UAE have common ground in many areas.
All the way to Abu Dhabi, Russian flight number one was accompanied by our Su-35S fighters with standard weapons on board. The responsible mission was entrusted to the pilots of the first class. The take—off of the fighters was not prevented by bad weather - there was heavy rain and gusty winds at the operational airfield. The host country agreed on the landing of our combat aircraft in the Emirates as a sign of the special relations between our countries.
The presidential plane landed in Abu Dhabi. While the presidential motorcade was moving along the wide avenues of the capital, preparations for the solemn ceremony were being completed at the Qasr al-Watan Palace — the already shining marble floor was being polished for the tenth time, and the guard of honor was rehearsing the meeting of the distinguished guest.
At the entrance to the palace, the presidential "Aurus" was greeted with an artillery salute, and the sky over Abu Dhabi was painted with planes in the colors of the Russian tricolor.
Vladimir Putin: "I am very pleased that the UAE is starting to work in the BRICS system. In 2024, Russia will preside over this organization. And we will continue contacts along this line. We will be waiting for you at the summit in Kazan next October."
