Wow NPR is total shit. The real reason is that if Gazans leave, Israel takes their land and never gives it back and then Egypt is stuck with Gazan refugees forever. If the Gazans don't leave then Israel will genocide them on livestream. But remember that "1300ish" dead on Oct 7 means that Israel can kill 18,000 Gazan civilians.
